Our Story - The Balgowlah Bowling Club

Welcome to The Balgowlah Bowling Club, affectionately known as 'The Bally.' Our story begins on a significant day, September 26, 1951, when 188 community members gathered at the Balgowlah Golf Club, led by the then-Mayor of Manly, James Anderson. This meeting marked the formation of what would become a cherished institution in our community.

Officially opened on June 2, 1956, by Lieutenant General Sir John Northcott, Governor of NSW, our club has been a beacon of community spirit and sporting excellence on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Balgowlah Heights, 'The Bally' boasts some of the most pristine, north-facing greens, offering our members and guests sublime bowling experiences coupled with breathtaking views.

Over the years, 'The Bally' has evolved from a simple bowling club to a vibrant community hub. In 2019, we redefined our mission to focus more on serving the broader community, reflecting our commitment to being more than just a sports facility. Our club now hosts a variety of events, from lively trivia nights and chilled-out barefoot bowling sessions to major community gatherings and private functions.

Our facilities have seen significant upgrades to enhance the experience of our members and guests. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or a newcomer eager to learn, The Bally provides a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. We pride ourselves on fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit, making 'The Bally' a perfect place for relaxation and recreation.

Join us at The Balgowlah Bowling Club, where history, community, and sport come together beautifully. Whether you're here to play, socialize, or simply soak in the scenic views, 'The Bally' promises a memorable experience for all.
